WOF Alaska Chapter

Walking Outside

Walking Outside Foundation planted its root ball in Alaska July of 2020. Pondering observations of things overlooked, a few of us would explore ideas that could make a difference to people in general and specifically to those who are disadvantaged in some way through no fault of their own or. Health and welfare were topics of conversation as we considered the outcome of individuals through a “what if” lens.

We concluded that everyone loves walking outside as a rule. There are impediments that need to be removed for the many to enjoy it, however. Perhaps it’s only a bit of annoying litter or in some cases, there are varying degrees of disabilities that loom as a roadblock. Whatever the case, Walking Outside Foundation seeks to bridge the gap in helping others to find happiness in walking about in the earth and taking care of it. There is no greater job than this from the beginning of time nor, will there ever be any better employ than this!

The earth is strong and quickly recovers under normal conditions. Yet, mankind has delt it an unusual blow by his reckless management of its resources and deliberately polluting its waters, air and soil. We each bear a bit of responsibility for this, however minor. We do not wish to make a political statement by any means, but we only admonish each one to be cognizant of our duty to be good stewards of this earth as far as it depends on us.

Speaking of responsibility, it is our privilege as individuals to be self-reliant and not be owing anyone a single thing except love.
