Walking Outside Foundation Mission

Walking Outside Foundation (WOF) founded in July 2020 amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska, embarked on a mission to reflect on and address the often-overlooked aspects of our environment and community well-being. A group of passionate individuals united, driven by a desire to create meaningful changes for those facing challenges beyond their control. Their conversations often revolved around health, wellness, and the transformative power of nature, encouraging them to consider alternative circumstances that could enhance lives, particularly for those with disabilities. One universal truth emerged from these discussions: everyone loves walking outside. However, they recognized that not everyone enjoys equal access to this simple pleasure. Some face the nuisance of litter marring natural beauty, while others encounter physical obstacles or varying degrees of disabilities that hinder their connection with the outdoors. Walking Outside Foundation’s mission is to bridge these gaps by promoting accessible outdoor spaces for all, regardless of physical ability. They aim to support environmental stewardship by addressing issues like litter and ecological degradation, and foster community initiatives that encourage outdoor activities for physical and mental well-being. The foundation believes that nurturing both the environment and the human spirit is the greatest purpose. From the dawn of time, connecting with nature has been a source of joy, healing, and inspiration, and they are honored to continue this vital work. At the heart of Walking Outside Foundation lies a belief in personal responsibility and self-reliance, coupled with a commitment to community and compassion. As individuals, they strive to owe nothing to anyone except love, recognizing that their greatest strength lies in supporting one another and caring for the world they share. Join us on our mission to create a world where everyone can experience the simple, profound joy of walking outside. Together, we can truly make a difference in the lives of others.
